The premise of Results Under Action is to provide a connection between people and the spaces they build; a system designed to promote a personal response to architecture.

Results Under Action is text-based project and is designed with mobility and adaptation in mind. Transportable wall structures are used to display narrative footnotes or historical slogans that embody the stories of our built environment. Each is a graphic source with minimal text, presented to encourage many, varied, and unique interpretations.

At the center of this project is a system of display panels that are connected into thin, long, wall structures. These structures are displayed in pre-determined public places with the collaboration of two to three participants who hold the prepared surfaces while each is being documented from varied perspectives.  This documentation preserves not only the wall as it is presented at each location, but also the reaction and responses of the public. The city and its people become an inadvertent participants in each installation. Each wall is installed for about fifteen minutes per location. Once documented, the panels are brought back to the studio to be repainted for a future use.

It is my fundamental belief that photography acts as a language, a unique and powerful way of communicating. Art, history, architecture, and people are connected through the photographic image. This has been my inspiration for Results Under Action. My intent has been to engage people to respond to their surroundings, specifically, to the architectural built environment. Results Under Action implies the transitory condition or evolution of our architectural heritage and how we, as people, impact, as well as react to it. Just as our narrative impacts our surroundings, so do our surroundings influence our narrative. The connections, exchanges, and associations people have in response to my project may not be documented in the same manner as the photographic image itself, but that is the point. Results Under Action will hopefully be the seed, planted and left to germinate. The portable display and the narrative that they impart will act as an ephemeral layer that builds dialog in relation to urban and social transformation in Portland.
